Project description:
Applications are invited from interested candidates from the field of engineering, physics, chemistry, material science and related subjects for 3 years PhD studentship to work on label-free optical imaging for applications in materials and biological sciences.
In this project you will develop new microscopy and imaging techniques by combining atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy for chemical and biological analysis at spatial resolution ranging from 10 nm to few microns. The project will build upon a successful collaboration between Swansea University and the national measurement institutes in Europe.
Eligibility
Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University) in Engineering or similar relevant science discipline.
English Language requirements: If applicable – IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 5.5 in each individual component) or Swansea recognised equivalent.
Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to UK and EU based students only. EU Students must be eligible to receive the EU Transitional Bursary Scheme.
Additional Funding Information
This scholarship covers the full cost of UK tuition fees and an annual stipend of £15,609.
Additional research expenses will also be available.
